It's been one hell of a community fundraiser, but The Teton Boulder Project has pulled it off nobly. Although not entirely finished, the project has managed to fund raise over $300,000 to install a permanent outdoor bouldering wall and recreation area in Phil Baux park, next to Snow King Resort. The project, taking the better part of the last two years, still hopes to reach another 40K to install one last boulder on the east end of the park (which after 300K, sounds like pocket change).

My buddy Andrew and I went out despite freezing temps yesterday to see how it turned out. Thinking we were pretty hardcore for braving the temps, we were completely upstaged by several 6-7 years olds scrabbling fearlessly up and down the boulders! Hat's off to the organizers and donors for making this happen (Christian Beckwith, Greg Miles, Renny Jackson, Yvon Chouinard, Jack Tackle, Mark Barron and several more...). The Boulder Park will undoubted serve as an incredible community resource for years to come, inspiring kids to climb, keeping us older people in shape and serving as a rememberance our friends who have lost their lives to the mountains.
