In yet another example that the print publishing industry is trending toward niche high-quality publishing models, allow us to extend a warm welcome to Coast Mountain Culture, officially launching tomorrow

CMC promises to keep Kootenay Mountain Culture's tradition of outstanding art direction and editorial alive with a focus British Columbia down to Portland, OR. The magazine, being spearheaded by the publishers of Kootenay Mountain Culture, has put ski industry editorial veteran Mike Berard at the helm backed up by the strong team of Mitchell Scott, Peter Moynes, and Chris Rowat.

From Vancouver’s North Shore to Haida Gwaii, Puget Sound to Pemberton, the Pacific Northwest is home to some of the world’s most storied mountain wildernesses. While delving into the unique issues and authentic lifestyles that character- ize the Coast Mountain way of life, the magazine’s breadth of freelance writers and photographers also probes the larger world of mountain culture: from alpinism to surfing, back- country skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking, climbing and mountaineering, hiking, paddling, fly-fishing, travel, and homegrown arts and media.

Coast Mountain Culture is defined by outstanding design and unparalleled photography, its pages detailing experiences, perspectives and ideas through great storytelling, uncovering the essence of mountain culture through a spectrum of topics and vantage points you won’t find anywhere else.

Thanks Chris! Good news is, Coast Mountain Culture Magazine will be distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest, from Portland to Prince George. It's not just for us Canucks either, but rather a publication for all who love the PNW. The first issue makes sure our American friends get their fill, with articles on Portland beer and bike culture, and an historical look at Mount Rainier.
