To be quite frank, I’m not a big fan of NYR—New Year’s Resolutions. I think they are bogus, overrated and most of the time appear in the subsequent year’s resolutions because people are just darn lousy at following through with them. I have enough difficulties tackling my daily lists (bank, p.o., buy fruit at the supermarket, remember to put clothes in dryer, remember to take clothes out of dryer, get some turns in, oh yeah and show up to work on time, lalala…) as there never seem to be enough hours in the day. Regardless of all my nay saying above, I’ve decided to take reoccurring mental to-dos and put them on one giant list to attack with gusto this year (better late than never, per usual).
• Read more—this one is really bugging me. I’ve got a stack of great books waiting for me
• Ski more—duh
• Actually fold all my clean laundry on a consistant basis
• Travel more—so many places to see (in our lovely country and abroad), I don’t even know where to begin
• Figure out what I’m doing with my life (suggestions welcomed please) note to self: move to top of list)
• Say “like” less
• Don’t say “umm” in lieu of “like”
• Facebook less
• Keep in better touch and reconnect with my amazing friends at home and at large (although this may necessitate Facebook).
• Be a better friend
• Self-educate more
• Spend more time abroad somewhere in order to learn another language/how to cook some foreign grub
• Cook delicious food for myself more
• But less Nutella (thank you, your thighs)
• Sleep more (thank you, your brain)
• Stretch more (thank you, your limbs)
• Tackle that fear of commitment (towards jobs, relationships, car payments, making plans in advance…)
• Be on time, just for once
• Don’t sweat the small stuff
Not many major changes but many more “more” in some areas and “less” in others, it is all one giant balancing act after all. Good luck with yours.
