Pink, blue, orange and even green rubber snakes have been spotted in the Snake River basin of northwestern Wyoming. The discovery was made recently by concerned dog-walkers along the popular "Dike" walkway that runs north and south along the Snake River in Jackson, WY. A local grassroots organization known as K.R.S.W. (Keep Rubber Snakes Wild) has erected public signage along the walkway to promote awareness and respect for the beautiful rubber creatures:
Rubber Snakes are active in this area. Do not approach them.
Attacks on humans have occurred inflicting serious wounds. Do not feed, harass or attempt to pick up the snakes. It is harmful and illegal. Violators are subject to penalties under the Federal Rubber Snake Protection Act.
Also reported in the area are a rubber buffalo, owl and bee.
